Eumedica Afo Push Ortho - Innovative Ankle-Foot Brace

The AFO Push ortho orthosis offers excellent support in case of difficulty lifting the foot during walking. Its innovative design allows for a natural gait and allows you to walk again safely and efficiently.

AFO Push ortho is an ankle-foot orthosis which, combining different functions in an exclusive way, raises the foot during the swing phase, supports plantar flexion after heel strike and subsequently allows foot relaxation. The orthosis also offers lateral stability to the ankle joint.

The lightweight composite material structure forms the base for the padding and provides anchorage to the functional bands. It guarantees the stability of the ankle joint on both sides.

The particular padding (soft shell) guarantees comfort and effective distribution of compression.

The elastic bands of AFO Push ortho are adjustable. In this way it is possible to determine the degree of dynamic lifting of the foot in the swing phase based on the personal needs of the user. Upon heel support, the containment function of the elastic bands allows effective control of plantar flexion. During the stance phase, the AFO Push ortho orthosis allows the ankle joint to flex and extend freely and, during the forefoot relaxation phase, it allows the (residual) function of the calf muscles, contributing at an efficient and natural gait.

The inelastic bands (Dyneema®-Strap System) allow for dynamic tension to position the foot in the correct position in relation to the ankle. In addition to keeping the foot in a neutral position between dorsiflexion and plantar flexion, they avoid inversion and eversion movements, thus stabilizing the ankle and making walking safe.

The flexible sole makes it possible for the foot to roll naturally in contact with the ground during the entire support phase.

Normally, it is the shoe worn that allows the orthosis to be fixed around the foot. AFO Push ortho, on the other hand, is equipped with its own fixing system with elastic and inelastic bands. It is precisely this innovation in design that allows the AFO Push ortho orthosis to be worn even with light footwear, for example a slipper, when the patient is at home.

Indications
The AFO Push ortho orthosis is indicated in the presence of reduced control of the elevator muscles of the foot during the oscillation phase (swing) and response to the load (foot support/foot flat), possibly in combination with ankle instability.

Pathologies in which a loss of function of the elevator muscles of the foot can occur:

Stroke
Herniated disc
Multiple sclerosis
Post-polio syndrome
Muscular dystrophy
Spinal cord injuries
Lesions of the external sciatic-popliteal nerve (traumas, postures, etc.).
Contraindications:

Loss or lack of control of the calf muscles, moderate to severe spasticity, particularly severe form of clubfoot, stabilized foot deformations.

AFO Push ortho can provide:

1. Medio-lateral stability

2. Adequate dynamic support

3. Optimized walking

4. High comfort.
